The Dental Hygienists and Therapists here at The Parks are dual qualified; they hold both dental hygiene and dental therapy qualifications, and can offer a variety of treatments including;
The role of a Dental Hygienist is to help you to understand the condition your gums are in and how you can improve your oral health, through regular brushing and interdental cleaning. The hygienist will carry out scaling to remove the plaque from your teeth, one of the main causes of gingivitis. Regular appointments with the hygienist to maintain a good standard of oral hygiene and to keep you motivated, is recommended. The Dental Hygienist will discuss how often they think you will need to visit and will tailor the content of their appointments around your gum health.
The Dental Therapists role is to undertake more restorative work, such as fillings and composite bonding. Here at The Parks clinics, we offer Composite restorations, which are a white filling material, closely matched to the shade of your original tooth to make it aesthetically pleasing. Digital scans or impressions can be taken by the Therapist, to make mouthguards for sport, or for those who may grind their teeth during the night, preventing tooth wear and damage.
