Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain Veneers in Hull

Porcelain veneers are wafer-thin laminates or shells of tooth-coloured porcelain produced in a laboratory. They are ‘cemented’ to the front surface of teeth to improve their cosmetic appearance.

Dentists use the analogy that dental veneers are for your teeth what false fingernails are for your hands. Both porcelain and composite veneers are becoming increasingly more popular across Hull and the UK.

Porcelain veneers can be used for numerous cosmetic reasons including the improvement of gapped teeth, chipped teeth, slightly crooked teeth and for the desire of whiter teeth. Porcelain veneers last much longer than composite veneers and are structurally stronger. At The Parks Dental in Hull, we use only the highest-quality labs for our veneers which are made bespoke to each patient using the highest-grade porcelains available.

Price depends on the complexity of your case as well as the choice of porcelain used which is decided between each patient and their dentist.

Frequently asked questions

How long do porcelain veneers last?

Porcelain veneers last on average 10-15 years and in some cases much longer. Patients home care, oral hygiene and diet are all contributing factors when looking at how long veneers can last.

Do porcelain veneers stain?

The porcelain itself is difficult to stain as it’s a smooth and solid piece of porcelain. The margins around the veneer and between teeth can stain; regular scale and polishes or air polish are recommended to maintain the margins.

What is the difference between porcelain veneers and composite veneers?

The main difference is the preparation of the teeth. For porcelain your dentist will remove a thin layer of your enamel to enable the veneer to be cemented into place, with composite the material is placed directly on to your enamel. The other difference is the maintenance; porcelain requires much less maintenance as they are stronger and more durable.
